The off-road world is a dirty, tough place. Chunks of rock & dirt mean business when launched by roosting tires, & even when it s muddy, hitting the ground is always hard. That s why Bell sweated the details on the MX-9, loading it with a tough polycarbonate shell, MIPS energy management system, an adjustable visor, Velocity Flow ventilation, & a removable, washable, anti-microbial liner for when the time comes to hose down. The MX-9 MIPS packs all these features into one helmet, delivering exceptional value & pro-caliber performance. Outer shell Lightweight polycarbonate/ABS shell Ventilation Velocity Flow Ventilation™ Fully adjustable Flying Bridge Visor™ with air intake vents Fully ventilated EPS-lined chin bar Integrated vented roost guard Energy management MIPS® Energy Management System Other features 3 shell & EPS sizes for a personalized fit Removable/washable anti-odor interior Integrated roost guard Padded chin strap with D-ring closure Weight 1.533 gr. +/- 50 gr. (size M) Industry-leading 5-year warranty Homologation ECE 22.05 MIPS® Energy Management System MIPS, or Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, uses a slip plane designed to manage energy from rotational & angular impacts. When a head rotates quickly & comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration can cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. The stretching of the issue that can be caused by these motions can result in various types of brain injury. BELL believes, that helmets equipped with MIPS technology can provide an additional measure of protection in certain impacts. MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk & severity of brain injury. Velocity Flow Ventilation™ Bell s Velocity Flow Ventilation System literally pulls air through the helmet, keeping the rider cooler. Flying Bridge Visor™ Not all visors are created equal. The Flying Bridge Visor design allows more flexibility & improves airflow across the helmet. By not using a traditional center post & screw concept, BELL was able to increase the amount of energy management material in a high impact zone.
