The 1980s. Motorcycles without fairings. An attitude that made you feel different than everyone else. Introduction of the Concept-X. In keeping with the simple but aggressive style of the time, this helmet comes from the heart of Arai s R&D department. They loved the look, but that was about it. Now Arai engineers want an old school cool look that suits their style & their bikes. But they want coolness with modern Arai performance. The rugged simplicity of Concept-X is the product of imagination. But don t draw the wrong conclusions. The retro style may catch the eye, but it had to pass Arai s stringent internal tests. As a result, beneath the aggressive look is a strong, lightweight PB e-c Lc shell with a smooth, rounded shape, reinforced with Arai s proprietary peripheral belt to glide over surfaces & bounce off obstacles. The VAS-VC visor system, with its mechanical retro look, further enhances vision performance by lowering the visor pivot point to maximize a smooth top shell. The Concept-X s slim outer shell holds one secret: Arai s internal ventilation system. Cooling air is passed through the visor s eyebrow-level vents, through the comfort liner & three top vent holes, & then out through a hidden, multi-stage air channel inside the EPS liner by the negative pressure created by the combined venturi effect of the side vents & neck vent. At the front, six netted slots can be closed to prevent fogging & opened for air supply. General Shell construction: PB e-c Lc Variable Axis System (VAS) Ventilation Free Flow System (FFS) Concealed, multi-stage air duct Front ventilation Ventilation above the eyes Inner closure (latch) for chin ventilation Rear ventilation Neck ventilation flaps Lateral venting Aerodynamics Fixed chin spoiler Sight VAS Max Vision Visor New visor lock Pinlock lens Interior design Antimicrobial lining Exchangeable ear pads/cheek pads Interchangeable lining Speaker pockets Facial Contour System (FCS) 5 mm removable ear pads/cheek pads 5 mm removable temple pads Comfort Emergency Release System (ERS) Homologation ECE 22-05 PB e-c Lc (Peripherally Belted e-Complex Laminate Construction). The Concept-X s outer shell features e-complex laminate construction (PB e-c Lc), further reinforced by the "peripheral belt" in the front of the head, which in turn increases strength to better dissipate impact forces & distribute energy. New materials have been used to replace the AR mat as the middle layer, resulting in a significant weight reduction. However, strength is maintained as with PB-c Lc construction. Variable Axis System (VAS) With VAS, the visor attachment has been moved downward, resulting in an average of an advantageous 24 mm of space on both sides of the temple, bringing the helmet even closer to the ideal shape with even better glide. Thus, several areas of the shell can become harder, according to the test ranges of the Snell standard or even beyond. Concept-X Ventilation The Concept-X s slim outer shell hides a secret: Arai s internal ventilation system. Cooling air is channeled through the visor s eyebrow-level vents, routed through the comfort liner & three top vents, & exhausted through a hidden, multi-stage air duct inside the EPS liner via the negative pressure created by the combined venturi effect of the side vents & neck vent. At the front, six mesh-covered vents can be closed to prevent fogging & opened for airflow. Free Flow System (FFS) Creates a flow of air under the helmet that specifically reduces wind noise & air turbulence while promoting the expulsion of warm, stale air out of the helmet. Concealed, multi-stage air duct Warm air can be directed through three openings in the EPS inner shell to the dual Venturi vacuum exhaust vents. Ventilation above the eyes Fresh air can be directed to the user s forehead/sleep area without the need to drill additional holes in the shell of the helmet. Internal closure (latch) for chin ventilation. To prevent the ingress of coarse dirt, the chin vents are in addition adjustable from the inside at the side. Neck vent flaps To direct warm & stale air out of the helmet in a targeted manner. At the same time, this creates an increased air flow in the lower helmet area. Side vents Additional side air vents in the lower helmet area guide warm & stale air out of the helmet. Integrated into the shell construction, these outlets are designed to be aerodynamically optimal. A layer of Special Foam cleverly placed inside reduces wind noise without compromising ventilation performance. Fixed chin spoiler Reduces wind noise & aids in the evacuation of hot air from the face area. Road debris is better deflected from the neck. Depending on the model, various Arai helmets have a pull-out wind deflector in the chin area. VAS Max Vision Visor The VAS MAX Vision visor provides better vision in all weather & riding conditions as standard. Visor closure Adapted from our F1 helmets, the completely modified 3D visor lock that reliably ensures that the visor does not open by itself. The operation to open the visor without resistance is intuitive
- with one finger
- even with gloves. Pinlock lens Effectively prevents fogging of the visor. Clear vision, even in adverse weather conditions. Easy to remove for changing or cleaning. Antibacterial lining This skin-friendly, antibacterial material is very pleasant to our skin. With the aim of developing a softer & even more comfortable inner padding, the material used to hold the padding has also been enhanced & made softer. The padding has a changeable insert that allows for personalization. Interchangeable ear pads/cheek pads Cheek pads/cheek ear pads (Jet helmets) can be removed very easily. All parts, replaceable or not, can be cleaned well with lukewarm water & very mild soap. Rinse well with clean water afterwards & do not let things dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. All interior parts come in different sizes & thicknesses to provide a custom fit for each rider. Interior: Replaceable inner lining. The entire inner padding can be removed very easily. All parts, replaceable or not, can be cleaned well with lukewarm water & very mild soap. Afterwards, rinse well with clean water & do not let them dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. All interior parts are available in different sizes & thicknesses to allow an individual fit for each driver. Speaker Pockets Built-in communication systems are popular, but the problem is often that space for speakers is limited or non-existent, resulting in unwanted pressure points. The special speaker pockets that allow speakers to be mounted without skimping on comfort or fit. (Speakers not included). Facial Contour System (FCS) The Facial Contour System (FCS) works with a spring mechanism in the cheek pads, providing a tight fit & more comfort on the lower jaw without applying too much pressure. 5 mm removable ear pads/cheek pads. The cheek pads provide even easier fit & comfort, & have a 5 mm peel-off layer to free up space when needed. 5 mm removable temple pads Arai s removable temple pads can gain 5 mm of interior space when needed. Emergency Release System (ERS) Allows faster access to an injured rider. Pulling the orange tabs integrated into the pads causes the cheek pads to fall out. This makes it easier for rescue workers to remove the helmet. This reduces the risk of further injury. Air supply control Work in conjunction with the "dual-pivot®" chin vent. Fresh air is directed directly to the surface of the visor, & at the same time, stale air is directed away from there to the bottom. Sliding To minimize the impact energy entering the helmet, it is critical that the helmet be able to glide over a surface. Arai believes that a strong, round & smooth shell helps increase the helmet s ability to protect the rider in an impact. Shells with sharp edges or ventilation channels that do not break off can reduce the helmet s ability to glide, channel energy into the helmet, or even increase rotational energy. Five quality tests Every single Arai helmet goes through five separate quality tests at different stages of production. After the outer shell is made, after the paint or decor is applied, after assembly, & at two other intermediate stages in production. Washable interior The premium quality of the interior materials used basically allows an Arai helmet to be easily wet cleaned with lukewarm water & mild soap. Handmade It takes up to 5 years before an Arai employee earns the right to make an outer shell. 27 steps & about 18 working hours are necessary to create a perfect Arai helmet. Comfort for every day Comfort for every day is achieved through individually adjustable fit of the padding. High quality textile materials & effective ventilation complete the picture. Thanks to a perfect balance & low center of gravity design, Arai helmets are designed to be worn for long periods of time without tiring or affecting the user. Penetration tested All Arai helmets are always designed & tested for protection against penetration, even if this is not required by the current European standard ECE 22-05. The Arai penetration test is performed with a 3kg pointed test body dropped onto the helmet from a height of 3 meters. Double-D closure The low-profile double-D closure gently fits the user s head without interfering. No moving parts, no susceptibility to rust, a chin strap that always fits snugly & the prevention of independent opening are convincing arguments for this type of closure. Rounder, smoother, stronger, shell The outer shell of an Arai helmet is designed in this shape to allow the helmet to slide over obstacles with as little resistance as possible in the event of an accident. The goal is to create as few rotational forces as possible due to twisting. This is also the reason why all Arai ventilation elements are always designed & mounted in such a way that they detach from the helmet without resistance in the event of an accident. Strong outer shell, soft inner shell Arai uses a strong outer shell to disperse impact energy in the event of an accident & a softer inner shell to absorb the remaining energy afterwards. The unique one-piece EPS inner shell used here combines up to 5 different densities of material in just one shell. Organic shape Arai always bases the shape of its outer shells on the natural, organic shape of the human head. This minimizes air turbulence, improves comfort & is more visually attractive. Different sized outer shells Unlike many other helmet manufacturers, Arai installs a separate outer shell for each of two helmet sizes in most models for safety reasons. Through this, & through the different Arai models, each user finds exactly the helmet that fits & pleases him personally best. Note Please be aware, as long as nothing else is written in the item description: All helmets will be delivered only with the ECE certification by default all helmets that have a visor will be delivered with a clear visor, even if it is shown differently.
